Hello, My name is Monica Bird; this is my first year teaching here at Lopez elementary school. I am so excited to be a part of the Lopez Lasesr family. I am a Fort Collins native and have raised four children here. I have three grandchildren, and I live with my love, Steve, and we have two Dobermans.
I have been working with preschool children in Northern Colorado for 20 plus years. I have an Associates in Early Childhood, of Arts in History, and I am currently working on my Masters in Early Childhood Special Education. I have also attended many different pieces of training on social-emotional well being.
I enjoy being outside. I spend my summer working in my flower garden and Steve, and I spend time up in the mountains camping. I spend as much time as I can with my family, playing board games, or just visiting.
I am a hands-on teacher that loves to plan a fun and educational experiences for my students. I believe that all children should feel at home in my classroom. I will have photos of each child around the room. We work on teaching the children that are apart of a school family by learning social skills that encourage inclusiveness. I use approaches related to the pyramid model and the Conscious Discipline model.
