I collaborate with the Literacy Interventionist and classroom teachers to teach small groups of students so that can reach and/or excel in their grade level Reading Benchmark goals. I also work with small groups of students to help them achieve the steps in the writing process.
I started teaching in my high school senior year at KinderCare Learning Center. I had a great time working at the Learning Center and it is there I decided to become a teacher. I attended Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, California in which I received my Associate of Science. To further my education, I became an AmeriCorps Member. I served for two years in The Everyone Reads Program. I completed the program working in the Snowline Joint Unified School District in Phelan, California. It is through this program that I fell in love with teaching students to read. I earned an AmeriCorps Education Stipend and attended California State University, San Bernardino. In 2008, I completed a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in 2010. I also have a Colorado Teaching License.
I love being outside in the fresh air! I enjoy riding my horse, holding onto my husband as were riding our Harley and roaring down a dirt trail in my OHV. My best memories are camping with my family and friends. I feel most relaxed when I can sit in the grass next to my dog Lucy and my cat Charlie, listening to the wind in the trees and watching the sun twinkle on the landscape.
