DIBELS
DIBELS stands for Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills. This test is given to all students in grades K – 3 at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year. DIBELS measures several key reading skills including phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. Teachers use information from DIBELS to make decisions about instructional groupings and strategies. NWEA MAP
Students in grades 2 – 5 take MAP tests in Reading and Math at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year. MAP is an “adaptive” assessment that is administered on the computer. The test adjusts based on students’ correct and incorrect responses to precisely measure their learning needs. Teachers use data from MAP to determine instructional plans and to measure students’ growth over the course of the school year. CMAS
CMAS stands for Colorado Measures of Academic Success. This test is given to all students in grades 3 – 5 in March/April each year. All grade levels have assessments in English Language Arts (reading/writing) and Math. In addition, 5th grade is assessed in Science annually and 4th grade is assessed in Social Studies every three years. CMAS is a computer-based assessment that is administered over the course of several days. Schools and parents receive the results of CMAS at the beginning of the following school year. Teachers use CMAS results to evaluate student growth and achievement and to make future adjustments to instruction. For more information, click the links below.
