Karrie Rolwes

1st Grade Teacher
Educational and Professional Background

Hello, my name is Mrs. Rolwes and I'm very excited to welcome you to 1st grade!  This is my eighth year at Lopez and I feel so grateful to be part of the Lopez family!

I have been teaching for the past 18 years.  I spent ten years in kindergarten, one year in literacy and the past seven years in 1st grade.

I'm originally from upstate New York and moved to Colorado back in 2002.  I received my Bachelor's degree from SUNY Cortland in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Reading/Literacy from University of Northern Colorado.  I started my first two years of my teaching career in Weld County School District 6 and then moved to Thompson School District where I taught one year of Title 1 Reading and five years of Kindergarten.  One of my professional goals was to teach in Poudre School District, so when I received the opportunity, I jumped at it.  I've had an amazing experience in PSD and want to continue the rest of my career in this school district... and at Lopez!

I look forward to this upcoming school year and getting to know you and your child.

Personal Interests and Hobbies

I absolutely love spending time with my family.  I have an amazing husband, Brian, a beautiful eight year old daughter, Katrina, and a three year old son, Matthew who are the loves of my life.  I coached volleyball for 10 years and miss it, but spending time with my family and focusing on my career took priority.

About My Classroom

Around Lopez, I'm known as the "hugging" teacher... who also is loud (again, originally from NY)!  I love teaching and I want every one of my students (and every student at Lopez) to know just how loved/important they are and how much fun learning is.
