Service Learning at Lopez: Leading with Heart

At Lopez Elementary, service learning is more than just helping out β€” it’s a powerful way for students to live out The 8 Habits through real-world action. By serving others, our students build leadership skills, take responsibility, and learn how to work together β€” all while making a meaningful impact in their community.

Here are just a few ways Lopez students make a difference:

  • πŸ¦ƒ Supporting Larimer County through turkey donations and participation in Cans Around the Oval
  • πŸ‘• The Little Shop at Lopez provides clothing and essential resources to families in need
  • 🍽️ Hosting an annual luncheon to help fund summer camp experiences for students in Respite Care
  • πŸ₯« Running a monthly food pantry in partnership with Global Leaders
  • Acts Of Kindness! Our PTA sponsors a fundraising activity centered around students performing acts of kindness

Through these efforts, students transform the 8 Habits from ideas into action β€” learning to lead with purpose, empathy, and responsibility. Service learning helps build character, strengthen community connections, and inspire lifelong learners who know they can make a difference.
