Math

At Lopez Elementary, our math instruction is guided by the Colorado Academic Standards and supported by PSD’s adopted curriculum, enVision Mathematics 2.0. This program is designed to build deep conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application skills.

Core Curriculum Highlights:

  • enVision Mathematics 2.0 (K–5): A comprehensive program that emphasizes problem-solving, visual learning, and interactive tasks.
  • Focus on Mathematical Thinking: Students are encouraged to explore the “why” behind mathematical concepts, fostering critical thinking and meaningful discourse.
  • Progression to Higher-Level Math: PSD aims to prepare students for advanced coursework, with the goal of eligible students enrolling in Algebra by 8th grade

Parent Support Tools:

  • Parent Roadmaps: Grade-level guides with activities, questions to ask teachers, and tips for supporting learning at home.
  • Homework Help: Resources and strategies for assisting children with math homework.
  • Standards Overview: Information on Colorado Academic Standards and the Standards for Mathematical Practice

Our goal is to create math classrooms where students actively engage, discover patterns, and develop a lifelong appreciation for mathematics.
