Welcome to Third Grade at Lopez!

Third grade is a year full of exciting challenges and big milestones! Students take on new responsibilities and dive deeper into learning — all while continuing to grow as leaders through the 8 Habits.

What to Expect in Third Grade:

• 💻 Technology in Action: Each student receives a laptop to use at school, and we integrate 21st-century skills into every subject.
• 📚 Reading & Writing: Using the EL Education curriculum, students read to learn and respond to literature through writing, using research to support their ideas.
• 🔬 Science Adventures: From dinosaurs to tornadoes, puppies to electromagnets — science in third grade is hands-on and full of discovery!
• ➗ Math Foundations: This is the year multiplication and division take center stage. We go beyond the page to apply math in real-world situations.
• 🌎 Social Studies: Students explore the regions of the United States and discover how each region’s unique qualities contribute to our country’s diversity.
• 🧘 Leadership & Mindfulness: We incorporate mindful practices to help students access the 8 Habits and strengthen their leadership skills.
