Counseling

Welcome to the school counseling program at Lopez Elementary. My name is Sarah Vaughn and I am in my sixth year here at Lopez, excited about every chance I get to work with our students. Some of the services I offer are individual and group counseling based on student needs as well as providing classroom lessons for social/emotional learning. Some of the topics students learn about during counseling include, but are not limited to friendship skills, emotional regulation, family change, grief and loss support, etc. Another important part of my job as a school counselor is helping families connect with resources within the community based on their individual needs. Other programs students may participate in that coordinated through the counseling department are mentoring, helping students and families experiencing homelessness (McKinney-Vento) and/or challenges with basic needs, 504 plans as well as the Safety Smarts lessons for grades K-3 that are provided by a community agency called Voices Carry.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions at svaughn@psdschools.org or (970)488-8814.
I look forward to getting to know you and your family!
