School Counseling at Lopez Elementary

Welcome to the Lopez Elementary Counseling Program! My name is Sarah Vaughn, and I’m thrilled to be at Lopez, supporting students and families every day. I look forward to getting to know you and your family!


What We Do

Our counseling program helps students grow socially, emotionally, and academically. Services include:

  • Individual and group counseling based on student needs
  • Classroom lessons focused on social-emotional learning

Topics we cover include:

  • Friendship skills
  • Emotional regulation
  • Family changes
  • Grief and loss support
    …and more.

Family Support

We also help families connect with community resources and coordinate programs such as:

  • Mentoring opportunities
  • Support for students and families experiencing homelessness (McKinney-Vento)
  • Assistance with basic needs
  • 504 plans
  • Safety Smarts lessons for grades K–3 (in partnership with Voices Carry)
  • Little Shop at Lopez- We are excited to share that we have gently used & new clothing, hygiene items, and more available. If you are in need of any of these items, please schedule a time to come shop.

    The shop is open:

    Mondays between 1:30pm- 3pm, Tuesdays between 8:20am- 10am, Fridays between 11am-1pm
