Library & Media Center
Welcome to the Lopez Library Media Center, where curiosity and creativity come alive! Our library reflects the mission and values of Lopez Elementary by providing students access to a wide variety of books and resources that inspire a love of reading and learning.
We believe every student has the right to choose books that interest them and reflect who they are. Reading regularly opens doors to new worlds, sparks imagination, and helps students dream big.
Overdue or Lost Books
We understand mistakes happen! If you think a book was returned but you’re still receiving notices, let us know — we’re happy to do a shelf check. Also, ask your child to check:
- Their desk or book box
- Backpack
- Caregiver’s or friend’s house
After 60 days, overdue books are marked as “lost,” and you’ll receive a bill for the replacement cost. If you’re able, we appreciate your help in paying for lost books since tight budgets make replacements challenging.
Payments can be made by:
- Check or cash in the office
- SchoolPay online
If a student consistently loses or damages books, some library privileges may be limited.
Tips for Keeping Books Safe
Help your child care for library books by:
- Avoiding writing, coloring, or highlighting in books
- Keeping books away from food, drinks, pets, and younger siblings
- Storing books in a safe spot and handling pages gently
- Being careful when packing books in backpacks or desks
Technology
We live in a digital world, and our students are digital-age learners! Our goal is to help students navigate technology safely, responsibly, and effectively — building skills that prepare them for success in school and beyond.
